Connecticut Butterflies with Pamm Cooper

 

Description: A 45-minute presentation on Connecticut butterflies will be followed by a walk to search for nearby butterflies and caterpillars in the Richard Haley Native Plant wildlife gardens. We will look at plants that are important for nectar sources and as hosts for caterpillars.

Details:Pamm Cooper works at the UConn Home and Garden Education Center office. She also teaches the entomology and turf portions of the UConn Master Gardener Program. She worked for Dr. David Wagner (evolutionary biologist at UConn who specializes in Lepidoptera), collecting and raising caterpillars for a bio-survey of the Tankerhoosen DEEP property and the Belding Wildlife Management Area in Vernon, CT. She has also documented flora and fauna in various areas of Connecticut since 1995 and runs a program for UConn Bug Week every year in July. This program has a 30-person limit.
