If so, join Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s (DEEP) State Parks and Public Outreach Division as they ring in spring on Sunday, March 20, 2023 when the 2023 Sky’s The Limit Hiking Challenge (“STL”) is released. Take the challenge and get outside for some fresh air. We ask our participants to hike and walk as many of the locations/trails that are offered and photo document along the way (all information will be provided to participants) to experience this year’s STL theme, “In, Under, Over and Thourgh” our CT State Parks and Forests. There will be 15 park or forest locations offered for people to visit, explore and learn about. The locations and scenry will vary at each location and we promise to make it worth the time out on the trails! Maybe you will be up in a tower, underground, heading up to the top of the park for a breathtaking view, or on a linear trail-You'll just have to join us and find out!. Participants who hike or walk 10 of the 15 trails will receive a “Sky’s the Limit” hiking staff medallion and a certificate for their efforts. For hiking or walking all 15 locations, in additional to the medallion and certificate, 50 participants will receive a chance to win a hand-carved hiking staff made by the CT DEEP Sawyer from our DEEP Sawmill or from the CT Woodcarver's Association.
